Andrew Sutton

Principal Solicitor of Sutton Family Law
Andrew was admitted to practise as a solicitor in 2008. He spent the next 13 years working with a respected general practice firm serving Melbourne’s western suburbs before establishing Sutton Family Law in 2021. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from Monash University and a Bachelor of Social Science from RMIT University.
Throughout his career, Andrew has gained experience across a broad range of legal matters, with a particular focus on Family and Relationship Law, de facto property matters, deceased estates and succession planning.
Andrew personally manages his clients’ matters from the initial consultation through to resolution. Where court proceedings are required, he is experienced in appearing on behalf of his clients and providing clear, practical advice at every stage of the process.
Andrew regularly represents clients in family violence proceedings before the Magistrates Court. Where appropriate, he seeks to resolve these matters through negotiation, helping clients avoid the cost and stress of a contested hearing. However, when an agreement cannot be reached, he is prepared to provide strong representation in Court.
Andrew also advises clients in estate disputes, including matters involving concerns about the care of a vulnerable family member and claims by people who have been left out of a Will. He has extensive experience in mediation and negotiation and works to resolve disputes efficiently and, wherever possible, without the need for a trial.

Where possible, we seek to resolve disputes through negotiation or mediation, helping clients avoid the cost, delay and stress of Court proceedings.
However, some family law and estate disputes require Court intervention.
